You Are Not Powerless.
Things you can control: your thoughts, your beliefs, your state, your behaviour, your words, your actions, how honest you are, how you treat yourself, how you treat others, what information you take in/the things you consume, the opinions you listen to, who you associate yourself with, how many risks you take, how you interpret situations, whether or not you receive and give support, what you eat, how often you exercise, what you do with your spare time, how you spend/invest your money, your level of effort, what you do with your setbacks, if your past is to continue to influence your future, whether or not you judge, blame or shame others and yourself..
Things you can’t control: other people's thoughts, opinions, beliefs, states, behaviours and actions, what happens around you.
Practice recognising the difference and remind yourself you are more powerful than you think.
The more energy we use to focus on what we can’t control, the less energy we have to focus on what we do have the power to control and the ways we can actually make a difference.
Journaling prompts:
If you feel stuck in worry, overwhelm or uncertainty, refocus how you can make a difference by asking yourself these questions:
What is worrying me?
What can I control in this situation? What can’t I control in this situation?
What matters most to me?
How can I focus more on the things I can control? And what would that look like?
